The Choir

EnChor was formed in the summer of 2007 by its Artistic Director, Diane Loomer C.M., to encourage "senior singers" to continue to use their talents, sharpen their brains and keep them off the streets on Friday mornings. Her invitation to singer-friends "over 55" recruited a group of 20 willing and experienced musicians with an average age of 65.

The original brave band of 20 has swelled, via "friendly" auditions, to our current 48 singers. For performances we were fortunate to start at the top, joining Chor Leoni, Elektra, the UBC Opera singers and the VSO, for their annual round of traditional Christmas concerts. We are also a hit on the retirement home circuit where we sing to audiences even older than us. Our plans for this season include a repeat performance with the VSO, a public spring concert, several ArtsWay concerts, and a tour to Saskatoon.
